a montage of the birds, mammals and plants of the north-slope, above the brooks range in alaska. when traveling northward in alaska during my own expedition, i noticed the forested areas featured black bears and moose, but once beyond the timberline we saw more caribou and grizzlies. continuing further one would see fewer grizzly bears and more polar bears. this picture contains a snow bunting, lapland longspur, american golden plover, arctic tern, long tailed jaeger, spectacled eider among the many bird species, and moss campion and lapland rosebay among the botany.
