taken out on the lake bed of mcphee reservoir in southwest colorado-- the lake has been receding for years and overall the depth has dropped about 40 feet. waves would formerly lap right up to the treeline. subsequently the rich soil has filled with a lot of growth: young willows and cottonwood, some black eyed-susan and various plants which thrive on disturbed soil. there are even rough dirt roads now along the lake bed. meantime, i've made the scene into a kind of impressionist view of the hill in fall colors.
