a first year osprey right in the small town of dolores colorado, above the river and high in a long dead tree. he or she had evidently been chowing down on a fish because i noticed a reddish tint to the bare bark on the tree, and there is actually a meaty bone on the left. the bird was seen against a partly cloudy blue sky of late summer.
