with a backdrop consisting of the buttes of mesa verde national park, a cowboy and his faithful dog trot over a dusty hillock as the vista unfolds. just then a redtail hawk banks just overhead, brilliant in the sunny western sky. it's a local portrait of a rider i photographed passing my own home in rural southwest colorado. this is a variation of an earlier commercial piece i did for a local balloon festival (hot air balloons in the place of the hawk).
