he bottle brush is an australian plant but pretty commonly seen in warmer places like arizona, where i photographed this rufous hummingbird. i found that i needed to de-saturate the flower a lot in order for the bird to stand out as i remembered it. so here i have the bird against a neutral dark background-- and he seems rather content with that.
