'round here in SW colorado we have gambel's oak, which seldom reaches higher than maybe 20 feet. they thickly cover much of the terrain but in places agriculturalists have, for the sake of pasture, cut them back into picturesque copses like this one. the oak hold their leaves well into winter. this picture has some watercolor-like aspects with a lot of paint splatters. it's a cold winter night with a moon just out of the image.
