i grew up in kansas but imprinted early on colorado; most trips saw us blazing across kansas on I-70 as quickly as possible to get to the mountains. recently though i had a chance to revisit kansas and spent days taking rural roads across both southern and northern kansas. there were many great moments and i came to appreciate the more subtle landscapes. sadly much of kansas is monotonously agricultural, but sometimes in the right light, even plain fields can be photogenic as were these furrowed fields near winfield. even more so with a flock of snow geese and a trio of sandhill cranes.
