says phoebes colonize old barn
say's phoebes of course like to nest around human structures, we have nesting pairs here every spring-- they're one of the first migrators to show up here, often as early as mid-march. this pair is considering a nest site inside of an abandoned barn. the window shown is on the neighbor's property-- the barn is seen in other pictures of mine. it's a great collection of whatever building supplies happened to be on hand: scrap metal, various siding and hinges and even an intact series of panes that are vivid blue reflecting the sky-- like insets of lapis lazuli.
