in southwest colorado many mountainsides are cloaked with dense growths of gambel oak. where cattle are pastured, most of them have been carved out to expand the grassland, but here and there a few are allowed to stand. i depicted a small copse of trees reflecting in a pond that is quite near to freezing over. a full moon has just risen over the tranquil scene.
